Math Battleship!

Hello! Happy Monday!

Today in Math we played Math Battleship!

After placing our 4 watercraft on our cartesian plane game sheet, we attempted to locate our partner's ships by calling out different coordinate points to see if it was a 'hit' or a 'miss.' The first person to sink all their partner's ships was declared the winner!

Please ask me about my game-play strategy: How did I choose to place my ships? Did I win or did my partner find all of my ships first?

AGENDA

1. "Thinking Homework" - Today in Français we began discussing how to make an action for a goal, using our Terry Fox article as a guide. (See photo below.) Our thinking homework for tonight: What would need to be included in my action plan if my goal was to run across Canada for cancer awareness? Please be ready to share at least one idea with the class tomorrow.

2. Spend some time reading this weekend! ebookids.com is a great site that offers a variety of French stories as well as audio books. Setting aside 10-15 minutes for French reading will have a huge impact on French language development.

3. Cinémental permission forms were sent home last week and are due back ASAP.

4. If you have not already done so, please ensure you have a pair of headphones here at school. We will be using the laptops for different reading and math activities starting tomorrow and having headphones will allow students to better focus on their own work and allow for a calmer learning environment as a whole.

5. The Casse-croute is open for business! Every Tuesday and Thursday students will have the opportunity to purchase a snack to enjoy along with their lunch. The casse-croute is cash only. Please see the menu that was sent home in Friday's "News from the office" for more info. Bon appétit!

6. SOCK-TOBER: In partnership with Ogijiita Pimatiswin Kinamatwin, we (along with all schools in the St James Assiniboia School Division) are collecting donations of socks and mittens this October.
Please bring in new, unopened adult or kid-sized scocks, gloves and mittens from now until October 31.
There are collection bins near all three entrances (6,7 and 8).
Please donate as you are able. Thank you!
