CFOO!

What is CFOO?

CFOO (Le Club Fabuleux des Orateurs et Oratrices) is a public speaking "club" (similar to its English friend TUSC) that will help students improve their oral French skills through short presentations. There are fifteen different presentation options, separated into three categories: Opinion, Creativity and Research.

Our CFOO preparation and presentation periods alternate on Day 6, periods 3 and 4.

For the first presentation, we will be choosing one of the five Opinion options. We will prepare a short oral presentation, fulfilling the criteria specific to our topic. (All categories are outlined on the sheet in our binder. There is also a photo posted below). Our presentation is in the form of speech, but our speeches can be take on/be supported with a variety of options: a poster, a puppet play, a poem, a painting, a PowerPoint, a movie, etc. As long as our public-speaking skills are on display, the possibilities are truly endless!

Leading up to the first presentation, we will continue discussing what we should keep in mind while making an oral presentation to the class. This will include: keeping eye contact with the audience, having a confident stance while at the front of the room, projecting our voice and speaking at a good pace with expression.

We will have a short block of time to begin our presentations tomorrow morning (a special Day 1 bonus for this time only) and then the rest of the preparation (finishing our speech and practicing our presentation) will happen on our own time. If we would like Mme Careen to review our speech with us before our presentation, we are welcome to make an appointment to work with her at lunch over the coming week. And, please note that any visual supports must be submitted to Teams in advance of presentation day. (Students WILL NOT be allowed to grab a laptop to submit their work when it is time to present. If their visual element is not ready to go, they will present without it.)

Our first CFOO presentation is set for Tuesday, November 28Mark your calendars and get practicing! :)
